- Title of Article: Intel Shows What 2GHz Can Do
- One sentence discussion of the firm and the marketing strategy presented in the article. Intel, the world©s number one manufacturer of microprocessors, demonstrates the first 2GHz processor while sending a message to investors and competitors alike that the company remains the leader in the ever-changing technology market at their Intel Developer Forum, which can be labeled as a form of public relations.
- One sentence; will the strategy work as the firm in the article hopes it will? Yes because the message they are trying to get across is that the new technology will make the product more affordable and the push for market penetration will be less of a factor.
- The reasoning behind your opinion of why the strategy will or will not work. This strategy will work because of the 845 chipset introduced by Intel, which enables system integrators to use standard PC-133 SDRAM as opposed to more expensive RDRAM. The use of the 845 chipset for the Intel Pentium 4 will not only be cost effective, but the price to performance ratio that many corporations use to determine the purchase of new computers will definitely make the Pentium 4 more mainstream.
- To what section of the course/book/lecture does this article relate? How? Intel has a competitive advantage in their industry. One, the company is the first to introduce a 2GHz processor while its rival competitor, Advanced Micro Devices, has only reached 1.4GHz. Another reason is that Intel is widely known in the corporate and consumer sectors to be among the elite manufactures of high quality products and so there is high brand recognition.
